When a Gap Changes Your Everyday Life

Missing one or more teeth changes how you eat, speak, and feel about your smile. These gaps often start small, then gradually affect daily routines you once took for granted. Many of our patients tell us they simply adapted, until they realized how much they were giving up.
  • Chewing favorite foods feels difficult
  • You hide your smile in photos
  • Your bite feels off or unsteady
  • Holding back at dinners with friends
  • Nearby teeth are starting to shift
  • Missing out on foods you love
  • If any of these feel familiar, you're not alone. A dental bridge can close the gap and bring back the comfort you've been missing.

    Why Waiting Often Costs More

  • Nearby Teeth Shift

Teeth around the gap gradually drift out of place, changing how your bite fits together.

  • Treatment Grows Complex

The longer you wait, the more correction your bite and surrounding teeth may eventually need.

  • Costs Add Up Later

Small problems left alone often turn into larger ones that require more involved care.

  • Daily Frustrations Build

Eating and speaking around a gap stays inconvenient every single day until it is addressed.

  • Bone Begins to Change

The jaw beneath a missing tooth slowly loses shape, which can limit your future options.

  • Fewer Choices Remain

Acting sooner keeps more treatment paths open and makes the whole process simpler for you.

  • Addressing the gap now means simpler treatment and a faster return to comfort.

How a Dental Bridge Fills the Gap

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by filling the gap with natural-looking artificial teeth. These are held in place by crowns anchored to the healthy teeth on each side, or by dental implants (permanent tooth replacements) when extra support helps. Once secured, the bridge stays fixed in place, so it never comes out for cleaning or sleeping.

Every bridge begins with careful planning. At Parkside Dental Care, we use digital scanning to capture a precise model of your teeth, so your bridge fits comfortably and accurately from day one. The same technology helps us match the shape and color of your new teeth to your natural smile. For anyone considering dental bridges in Montgomery, this approach makes the final result look seamless.

  • Fixed in place, never removed for cleaning
  • Typically completed over two dental visits
  • Can last 10 to 15 years with proper care
  • Transformations That Last

Is a Dental Bridge Right for You?

Wondering whether a dental bridge is the right choice for your smile? Many people who are missing one or more teeth make excellent candidates, even if they assumed otherwise. As long as the teeth around the gap are healthy, a bridge is often a straightforward solution.
  • Have one or more missing teeth affecting your smile
  • Currently rely on a removable option you find inconvenient
  • Want a fixed replacement that stays put permanently
  • Have been told a gap needs to be filled
  • Prefer not to remove anything for daily cleaning
  • Not Sure If You Qualify?

It is completely normal to have questions about whether a dental bridge fits your situation. A consultation gives you a clear, personalized answer and lets us recommend the option best suited to your smile and goals.

What to Expect During Your Dental Bridge Treatment

If the idea of getting a dental bridge makes you nervous, you are far from alone. Our patients often tell us the process was smoother and more comfortable than they expected, thanks to a care plan built around your ease at every step.
    1

    Consultation and Planning

Your treatment begins with a relaxed conversation about your goals and a gentle exam of the teeth around the gap. We use digital scanning to create a detailed model of your mouth, which replaces messy putty impressions. By the end of this visit, you will understand exactly how your bridge will look and fit.

    2

    Preparing Your Teeth

Next, we gently prepare the healthy teeth on each side of the gap so they can support your bridge securely. The area is fully numbed for your comfort, and most patients feel only mild pressure. We then take a final digital scan and place a temporary bridge, so you leave with a complete-looking smile while your custom bridge is crafted.

    3

    Placing Your Bridge

When your custom bridge is ready, you return for placement. We carefully position the new bridge, check that it fits comfortably against your bite, and make small adjustments until everything feels natural. Once it is just right, the bridge is permanently secured. You will notice right away how stable and natural your restored smile feels.

    4

    Enjoying Your New Smile

With your bridge in place, you can return to eating, speaking, and smiling with confidence. We share simple tips for keeping your bridge clean and healthy, and we schedule a quick follow-up to make sure everything feels perfect. From there, regular checkups help your new smile stay strong for years.

Ready to Close the Gap for Good?

    Recovering After Your Dental Bridge

Most patients are surprised by how easy recovery from a dental bridge really is. Any minor sensitivity fades quickly, and our team stays available to support you through every step of healing.

    First 24-48 Hours

It is normal for the treated area to feel slightly tender or sensitive to hot and cold for a day or two. Stick to softer foods, chew on the opposite side if needed, and keep up gentle brushing. Most patients feel comfortable returning to their usual routine right away.

    First Week

Within a few days, any sensitivity typically settles and your bridge starts to feel like a natural part of your smile. You can gradually return to all your favorite foods as comfort allows. By the end of the week, most patients barely notice the bridge is there at all.

Every smile heals a little differently, so your recovery may be quicker or need a bit more time. We provide clear, personalized aftercare guidance and remain just a phone call away whenever you have a question.

    Dental Bridge FAQs

Choosing how to replace a missing tooth comes with plenty of questions, and we are happy to answer them. Below are the things patients ask us most about dental bridges. If you do not see your question here, our team is always glad to help.

How long does a dental bridge last?

With good care and regular checkups, most dental bridges last between ten and fifteen years, and many last even longer. Daily brushing, flossing around the bridge, and routine cleanings all help protect your investment. The healthier you keep the supporting teeth and gums, the longer your bridge will serve you.
Comfort is a priority throughout the entire process. The area is fully numbed before any preparation, so you should feel only light pressure rather than pain. Afterward, mild sensitivity for a day or two is normal and easily managed. Most patients find the experience far easier than they imagined.
Yes. Your replacement teeth are custom-made to match the shape, size, and color of your surrounding teeth. We use digital scanning to capture precise details, so the bridge blends in seamlessly. Most people will never be able to tell which teeth are natural and which are part of your bridge.
Caring for a bridge is simple and similar to caring for natural teeth. You brush twice daily and clean underneath the bridge using floss threaders or a small brush made to fit between teeth, which we will show you how to use. Regular cleanings keep both the bridge and your gums healthy.
A bridge can replace one missing tooth or several in a row, depending on your situation. The number it can span safely relies on the strength of the supporting teeth or implants on each end. During your consultation, we will determine the right design for your smile.
There are a few designs, and the right one depends on where the gap is and which teeth surround it. Some bridges anchor to crowns on natural teeth, while others are supported by dental implants for added stability. We will walk you through the options that fit your needs best.
To support a traditional bridge, the healthy teeth on each side are gently reshaped so crowns can fit over them. This step is comfortable and done under local numbing. If you prefer not to alter neighboring teeth, an implant-supported bridge may be a good alternative to consider together.
Many patients return to soft foods the same day and ease back into a full diet within a few days. While your temporary bridge is in place, it helps to avoid very sticky or hard foods. Once your permanent bridge is secured, you can enjoy nearly everything again.
Neither option is automatically better; the right choice depends on your oral health, budget, and personal preferences. Bridges often involve a shorter timeline, while implants preserve more bone over the long term. We are happy to compare both honestly so you can choose what feels right for you.
Many dental plans include coverage for bridges since they are a well-established restorative treatment, though coverage varies by plan. Our team can review your benefits and explain your estimated costs before you commit. We also offer payment options to make treatment more comfortable for your budget.

Dr Loveless did a masterful job with my dental implants. He first did four implants for a hybrid plate for my lower teeth and then most recently did a single implant to replace a tooth in my upper teeth. The implant looks and feels great! His office staff is kind and attentive. The office is attractive and comfortable too! Great experience.
